Our Team Leadership
Meet the Leaders Behind the Method
Our group leaders aren’t just facilitators—they’re seasoned clinicians who have deeply engaged in the Therapist Centered model themselves. Each has undergone rigorous training in Therapist Centered Group Consultation and brings a commitment to emotional presence, clinical integrity, and personal growth.
With diverse backgrounds and specialties, they share a common belief: that real transformation happens when therapists come together in honest reflection, structured dialogue, and supportive challenges. These leaders are here not only to guide the process, but to model it.
Kirk L. Brink, Ph.D.
Kirk is the founder of Therapist Centered and a licensed clinical psychologist with over 45 years of experience in individual, group, couples, and family psychotherapy. He began his career at Pine Rest Mental Health Center before establishing a long-standing private practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Early in his career, he recognized that traditional models of supervision often fell short in supporting therapists’ emotional resilience and long-term development. In response, he developed a more immersive, collaborative model that integrates group consultation with personal growth—a foundation that would evolve into the Therapist Centered approach.
Kirk has trained and mentored countless clinicians while co-leading consultation groups that emphasize honesty, clinical rigor, and self-awareness. He is the co-author of Opening Hearts, Opening Minds: Therapeutic Group Consultation, a foundational text that helped shape the Therapist-Centered Group Consultation model. He currently serves as adjunct faculty at the Institute for Individual and Group Psychotherapy, and he is a board member of both the Michigan Group Psychotherapy Society and IIGP. A seasoned educator and supervisor, Kirk’s work continues to shape a new generation of therapists committed to doing deep, meaningful work—starting with themselves.
